Asus RT-N13U is a nice router made even better with DD-WRT firmware

The Bottom Line:
If you are a novice, this is a good router. If you're a little more DIY, installing DD-WRT gives you a ton of options and makes this an awesome router.
I picked up one of these routers when it went on sale for $25. One reason I bought it was that the stock firmware offers repeater mode. This allows you to extend the wireless range of an existing router in your home. I used it briefly with the stock firmware and it was solid and reliable with decent range. I have to say out of all of the consumer brand routers I've used, Asus has the nicest firmware and user interface of the bunch.
The main reason I got this router was that Asus advertises compatibility with the open source firmware DD-WRT. I have installed it on other routers in the past and it was very difficult. I figured I'd give it a try. It was very easy to install ontp this router and gives you a ton of options the stock firmware does not. I am currently using it as a bridge/repeater in a room of my house where I do not have a network jack. It allows me to connect networkable components to it as well as extending my wireless signal throughout my home. It has been running rock solid and never needed a reboot.
I have not used the USB functionality so I can't comment on it.
Features:
- Auto detect your internet connection type and manual free setup
- Download Master: 24 hours downloading even PC is shut down
- USB port for FTP/All-in-One Printer sharing
- Universal repeater mode : extend your wireless signal coverage only by 3 steps
