The Bottom Line:
If you want a top-of-the-line graphics cards with tons of features, at a decent price, you can't go wrong with this card.
I bought this card back in October for around US$500. I was looking for something fast and high-end that will last me a good while.
The 7800GTX 256mb, at the time, was the best on the market and at, what I would say is, an affordable price. I just couldn't wait for the x1800XT or 7800GTX 512mb, nor did I have the cash to pay US$700+ for them. I am very happy with my decision.
Now, a little about the card. It's pre-clocked to 450/1200(from a stock 430/1200). Along with this slight increase in core clock speed, you get a 2 year warranty. Basically everything else is stock.
The card performs beautifully in all of the brand new 3D games currently out now and should last for quite a while after too. My system specs:
Windows XP
P4 3.4Ghz, 800FSB
2Gb DDR2 533MHz Ram
81.95 ForceWare drivers
1280x1024 resolution monitor(All games at this res)
And a few of my experiences with some recent games:
Battlefield 2, on a 32-player server, runs on all High settings, max draw distance and 4xAA at around 50-70 FPS(Frames Per Second).
Call of Duty 2 is running on everything maxed(Trilinear filtering, bodies, dynamic lighting, shadows, etc.). The FPS dips to around 25 FPS when a LOT is going on, like the beach landing level in single player, but is at around 50 FPS most of the time. Very nice looking and very playable.
The bundled software includes the drivers, Acrobat Reader, ResChanger XP 2005, DirectX 9, and CyberLink PowerDirector. And also, trial versions of SnapStream Beyond Media and Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3. Too bad a free game wasn't included to show off the game. There is a 'BF2 Edition' that has BF2 bundled with the card, but I already have the game so, sadly, it didn't help me.
