Not as cute as my previous Mini Mouse

Pros Comfortable to hold, small, ultra portable, inexpensive, on/off switch, LED battery level indicator, AA battery.
Cons Noisy rubber wheel, some lag (not much), not cute, the color I picked is bad.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:

This is a simple, inexpensive and good mouse that is well designed and practical. However, it is far from perfect.

The Logitech Cordless V220 Mouse for Notebooks is a fairly small mouse. I used to own an even smaller mouse. When I worked on my laptop during my lunch breaks the waitresses used to tell me that I have such a cute mouse. That is no longer the case. This mouse is not small enough to be cute. If you want waitresses to tell you that your mouse is cute you need it to be about 35-50% smaller (all dimensions). However, that mouse will not be ergonomically optimal. The Logitech Cordless V220 Mouse is about as small as you can go and still have an ergonomically optimal design. The Logitech Cordless V220 Mouse fits very comfortably in your hand.

Why I bought the Logitech Cordless V220 Mouse

The Optical Mouse versus the Ball Mouse discussion is over. Optical Mice are so much smoother and nicer, and they don't get clogged with dust (as easily), which is why ball mice are rare these days. However, the Cordless Mouse versus the Wired (USB) Mouse discussion is not over. Sure, wires are annoying when they go from the top of a table and around a table down to a desktop, or when you use them with a laptop in a cramped space. However, when you use them with tables with openings for wires or with laptops on fairly open tables they are not so annoying. Considering that cordless mice need batteries, which may run out, uses USB mini-receivers, which may get lost, it is a more complex issue. Add to that the fact that, in my experience, cordless mice have problems with lag.

However, I bought the Logitech Cordless V220 mouse because I read on-line that the lag was minimal, and the battery lasted six months, and it had an on/off button to help you save battery, and it was inexpensive. It was not more expensive than a decent optical mouse with a cord.

About the Logitech Cordless V220 Mouse

The documentation states that the Logitech Cordless V220 mouse is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Macintosh computer with Mac OS X (10.3.9 or above). However, I have no problem using it with Windows 7.

The 6 months battery life is nice. However, if you buy a more modern cordless mouse and pay a little bit more you can get a mouse with much longer battery life. The fact that it takes one AA battery is convenient. It has an LED battery level indicator, which is also convenient. The on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse is also very convenient if you want to save battery. As mentioned this mouse is fairly small and the USB mini-receiver snaps easily into the mouse, which makes it easy to transport.

In my opinion the design is ergonomically optimal. Because it is small you don't hold it with your hand but with your fingers. The grip is very comfortable and it has comfortable rubber grips on the sides.

However, it does have a few annoying features. The ridged rubber wheel (on top) is a little noisy (click, click, click) and I indeed noticed a lag sometimes, as well as a wandering cursor on occasion. I should say that the latter happens with many kinds of mice (in my experience). The mouse is very light, but it also feels a little cheap. This mouse comes in many colors but I picked scarlet red, which I regret. It just stings my eyes with its bloody look. I would pick blue.

Overall this is a decent inexpensive cordless mouse.
