MicroStar Rocks hard with this platform!!!
I've been an avid MSI and Asuse MB user for years. All of my personal PC's have had MSI sense I began building them myself. My current system backbone / MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum it uses the nForce 750a chipset. I have nothing but good things to say about this board. It is very stable and handles OC'ing elegantly. I use Win Vista *64 and sport a matched pair of HyperX Kingston DDR2 PC8500 1066MHz which go nicely on my AMD 4800+ Athlon64. I know its old school and with a bio flash, which I can attest does work, you can upgrade to a quad core Phenom II proc. I don’t really need that for myself, I have the 4800 OC to about 5000+ spec anyway.
I only have one warning for anyone interested in the bios for Phenom II. ***GO DIRECTLY TO SET-UP AND SELECT FAILSAFE SETTING FOR FIRST RUN. YOU WILL NOTE THE CPU VOLTAGE IS WAY TO HIGH OTHERWISE AND MAY DAMAGE YOUR PROC.***
I still have four generations of MSI main boards assembled and running in my home. The garage puter is probably the oldest with a KT3 Ultra 2 in it. It still purrs like a kitten on cat-nip. If your looking for a strong yet versatile MB you cant go wrong with an MSI product. The only con I came up with for this review was that amazon.com and shopping.com have the board for 299.00 and 298.95 respectively. This is about what I bought the board for nearly four years ago.
