Pros Low cost. Small. Works once figured out.
Cons Very hard to figure out. No instructions. Hit a snag and bummer.
Recommended it? Yes

I decided I needed to go wireless at home with a router, because we have laptops and the desktop but only had Internet on the desktop. This meant switching around depending on who needed to do what and when.

The nice Staples guy asked if I needed help, and I told him about the big plan. He... Read full review »

Pros Inexpensive, covers the whole house, fast Ethernet + wireless, easy to set up and manage.
Cons Does not support IEEE 802.11n.
Recommended it? Yes

About two and a half weeks ago I decided to try a new internet provider, CLEAR, instead of DSL from AT&T. CLEAR turned out to be a real disappointing dud, but that is a different story. At the same time I bought this NETGEAR Wireless Router because all that I got from CLEAR was a 4G modem. Actually... Read full review »

Pros Small footprint, handsome case.
Cons Requires serious Guru if you lose the CD.

I am totally satisfied with the "touchless" use of this wireless router. It works great with both my home network, and the DSL modem/router that I use to connect to my local ISP.

Specifications
The specs for this router are pretty standard for any wireless router. It's got five... Read full review »

Pros Easy instructions Helpful Support Works as expected (for me) Freedom
Cons Takes some time for installation
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the NetGear-G in January, 2008. I purchased this at Amazon, they have an offer that if you open their charge, you get $30 off. This only cost me $10.

I did do some of my research in local stores. I was told that the difference between the NetGear-G and the NetGear-N is that... Read full review »

While not the new N platform, and not a 108mbps router, the NetGear WGR614 provides excellent connection speed for email, and surfing for the value.

I have my wireless router connected next to my desktop, and through a primary netgear router in the media access box. The installation was... Read full review »

If it fails, the support is awful.

byrussinhouston Aug 25, 2007
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros When it worked, it was very good; easy to set up and easy to configure.
Cons Netgear's so-called "tech support" is worse than a joke.
Recommended it? No

I bought one of these on the strength of good results from an earlier Netgear purchase. It was a mistake. After 9 months in service, the router suddenly stopped connecting to the modem. I spent nearly two hours on the phone with Netgear's tech support, while they had me swap cables around and try... Read full review »

Cons Only Wirless G. No wireless N

In the last few month's I've tried a lot of routers. The one that broke my heart the most is the Apple airport extreme. For nearly $200 I got a really beautiful device that worked extremely well with my PC's - but constantly had problems connecting wirelessly to my Macbook Pro. I have the older... Read full review »

Pros Easy automatic network setup.
Cons None (yet). I've only had it a couple of hours.

Just now hooked it up. Installation was a breeze. I exactly followed the directions and presto: Eazy peazy- networking and internet access!
Much easier and quicker to install than the recently dead 2 year old Belkin router this one replaced. Read full review »

Pros Encryption Advanced networking features Cost Ease of setup
Cons Nothing, unless you do not follow the installation directions on the CD-ROM.

I purchased this wireless router when buying a new laptop. The installation was cake (if you follow the directions!) and the downstream performance is excellent for downloads with my Cable Internet modem. This router comes with advanced security options like SSID masking, WPA2, TKIP encryption,... Read full review »

WGR614 v6

I have two laptops, a desktop and a wireless video camera networked using this. I bought this because it came free with a PC and, since I was using an 802.11b router before, this seemed like an upgrade.

Sometimes it works perfectly. Everyone can access the internet and... Read full review »
