Yes
The Bottom Line:
My recommendation is if you're a WWE fan, buy it. If not, then don't. Wait a few years and then buy a really good version.
This is my complete review of svr 2009 for the PS2, I'll tell you the cons and the pros, but first the review. When the trailer came out, it looked like it was going to be phenomenal. Soon, after I bought it ($45.99 plus tax) I played it. The new enhanced tag team functions were easy and cool, but doing a tag team finisher is not. It said on the instructions yo have a full momentum bar, irish whip your opponent to your partners turn-buckle and press triangle. I admit I've done it a few times but it doesn't always work (and yes, I was playing stables). The new inferno match was a main feature to svr, it was where you had to throw your opponents into the flames. But couldn't they have added extra features to the inferno match?? Like, when they go near the fire or if you slam them onto the fire it would add extra damage? I am a BIG FAN of WWE, and when the newly announced "Highlight Reel" was featured it was a dream come true, I mean, like, when they create highlight reels in real life they sound awesome like "OMG!! What's Edge doing here?" and then it shows an awesome video. So when I had started the game for the PS2, it said to go to the "MY WWE" feature, so I did. And guess what? It wasn't there. Soon, I realized it was only on the X Box 360 and the PS3. (WHICH SUCKED BIG TIME!!!) Another thing was the road to Wrestle Mania, which I found was the same to career mode and 24/7 (career mode and 24/7 mode are practically the same). All they added To Road To Wrestle Mania is just new endings and different story lines and some tag team co-op. If I made a svr game, I would depend the story mode on weight sets, so if you create a wrestler with 267 pounds, it would be WAY different than 268. The best feature I thought was, was the New Create-A-Finisher. That mode was Awesome!!! I can't think of anything bad about it besides add some more moves! I was surprised that they didn't have a shop, but, they did add WWE theme songs like "The Game" (By the way HHH is my fav) I would give svr 2009 a 7/10 rating. My advice, wait a few years, (At least up to 2-5 years) or more. Try to skip a lot if you can, then just go out and buy the newest version so that you have all the previous features instead of the developers focusing on 1 feature every year.Pros: -Newly enhanced tag team features -New inferno match -New Highlight Reel -New Road To Wrestle Mania -New characters -Create-A-Finisher -Better graphics -More Strong Grapples and Struggle Submissions -WWE theme songs added to the music selection Cons: -Inferno match could have been improved. It was basically a battle royal with some flames. -No Highlight Reel for the PS2 :( (And I think all other systems besides X Box and PS3) -Road To 'Mania is like Career mode -No GM mode -Tag Team finishers are hard to do -No WWE Shop I'd say for next year they should work on Triple Threats and finishers. Or they can work on some really hardcore matches like ECW Extreme Rules and Buried Alive and Hell In A Cell. Also, they should work on hardcore matches or take it away, it's just like ECW Extreme Rules match. The should also add the scramble and Casket match. This is the end of this review :)
