PayPal payment cannot be refunded, but order was not received

Do not order using the PayPal method. I placed an order 6 weeks ago - was charged immediately and never received merchandise. The company acknowledged the charge, but said they have no record of the order as Paypal orders do not always process correctly. I cannot get anyone to issue a refund and had to escalate through Paypal. From how their reps discussed the issue with me, they are using outsourced fulfillment and a separate company for Paypal and have no information to assist me.

I am very afraid this outside company handling their payments has taken advantage of me and I may never get my $ back. I'm not ordering from them again - I assume when ordering that I will be dealing with the company that represents themselves on the site - not a 3rd party that cannot be reached at all. Horrible experience and makes me very wary of this company and of Paypal, which I've used before without any problems.

I was also suspicious that I could not find any forums for resolving the issue on the site, like Shopping.com or BBB or Bizrate - think they might have a bad rep in some areas?

The worst customer service I have ever received.

I never received my merchandise so I called ebags. I was told that they would check to see what was wrong and that they would get back to me within a couple of days. No one ever did. I sent an e-mail and got an automated response saying I would hear from them in 24 hours. I never did. I called again two days later and they said they would rush me a new order and call me to let me know it had been sent. Five days later I still had not heard back from them. I call again. They show no record of sending me a new order. These people show no respect to their customers.

AVOID - FRAUDULENT BEHAVIOR AT EBAGS!

I'm never shopping eBags again. If you pay even a small portion of an order with a gift certificate, then return the item for a refund, they refund ALL of the price in the form of a gift certificate -- instead of refunding the amount paid by credit card back to your credit card, as is standard. Seems like FRAUD to me -- maybe they're desperate for positive cash flow or something. In any case, when you call customer service and ask them to fix this, they act as if this is an extraordinary request, as if they hadn't gotten complaints about this odd pseudo-policy. They still haven't gotten back to me about it-- lots of stalling, "supervisor's on the phone", non-response to email inquiries, etc. BEWARE!

Item arrived terribly damaged. Twice I was given a promotional code to reorder the item at 20% off and twice the codes were bogus. I ended up reordering from another vendor, 6pm.com. But it turns out that 6pm.com is the same as eBags, but cheaper and no shipping for small orders. Go figure. I hate companies like eBags that aren't straight with you. It's like shopping at a used car dealer!

i ordered 2 laptop knapsacks. One was received within days. After 11 days and 6 phone calls/online chats to their offshore call center, they still could not tell me if they could supply the bag or when it would be shipped. None "got back to me " when promised. When I requested that the order be cancelled they couldn't tell me it was cancelled, just that they would try.

Ultimately I found the bag I wanted directly from the Burton store for less.

BEWARE of this FRAUDULENT trick! For the second order in a row, my email receipt from ebags indicated (in very tiny print, smaller than any print I've seen lately in email) that I was receiving a free Inside TV magazine. It further indicated that I had already paid for the subscription with my order, but if I wanted to get the $7 back I would be able to do so by mail, sending my receipt and a SASE in later for a $7 check. I called Customer Service about it the first time and was assured that my account would reflect that I don't want this little "benefit" they want to "bestow" upon me.

I hadn't ordered anything from them in over a year because they had really botched up an order of mine previously, but I thought maybe it was just a one-time thing and it might be safe to go back. It wasn't.

Their prices may be a little lower, but it isn't worth it anymore. They've gotten bigger and bigger and their customer retention doesn't mean squat to them anymore.

No dependable, poor customer service

I ordered two items from this website on two different occasions)and after a considerable time (2 weeks)they informed me that the item was sold out. Needless to say I was upset because the luggage was a Christmas present. I called and complained that it was bad business to neglect to inform someone for 2 weeks that the item ordered was unavailable. They told me I would get a 25percent discount and free shipping. What they failed to tell me was that it was off the original price, not the price listed on the website. So in actuality, all I got was free shipping and more hours of searching for another item to replace the one I really wanted. Due to time constraints I settled for something. I still am wondering if it will ever come! Also, they have different prices at different times, for different people. My daughter and I were online at the same time trying to figure out which luggage piece to re-purchase and her site showed a 10 percent sale, while mine displayed 20 percent. What's that about? Not too happy with this site. It's certainly not Zappos.com, which has excellent service and delivery.

Poor Service, Bad Experience, Would NOT shop at ebags.

Beware of ebags. I placed an order on the 4th of Nov and was told to expect delivery on the 15th. On the 17th I emailed them concerning the order. They did reply and I was told my concerns would be forwarded to a different dept. I called them after 3 days and was told the order shipped 2 day express. I waited 4 until the 4th business day and called them again to find out where my order was. I was put on hold while the customer service rep checked on my order. I was then told that it was tracked and to expect delivery the following day. My order did not arrive and I called them again only to find out that my order had not even been shipped.

I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. Beware, and good luck if you do place an order with ebags.

Very bad experience

Horrible customer service and order experience. They took my order for an item they showed in stock. When it hadn't shipped per their online order status, I online chatted with Kenneth. He assured me I would have the item as originally scheduled and the online order status was lagged. Today ( 6 days later) I received and email that the item was not in stock and the order was cancelled. It is now too late to order elsewhere before my trip.

BEWARE that their stock status means nothing !

Lorenza wants to give me 25 % off my next order and free shipping for the trouble. I think I'll save the aggravation and order elsewhere.

I ordered three items from eBags. One of the items was missing. I contacted them via phone three times and via email three times. I consistently got the run around. None of the customer service representatives had answers and they would not send me my missing item. Finally the third customer service person I spoke to finally reordered the item. This was the worst online shopping experience I have had.

Misleading bait and switch.

Over the Labor Day weekend Ebags ran an add for an additional 20% off. When I went to finalize my order for a leather bag I saw that the previously promoted free shipping was now $13.50, negating the "Special Sale" price. Ebags often engages in this bait and switch advertising. Be careful.

Do not buy anything from this place. I placed an order. Email confirmation was sent to me. But no tracking number after several days. I called two times to inquire. I was told no worries, even with no tracking numbers, items will be delivered on time. On the day of delivery, an email sent to me said it was out of stock. Because they offered a discount, I reordered any similar item. Now, a week later, still no tracking number. I have called customer service daily for 3 days now. They are not stationed in US. They all very heavy and difficult accent and do not know how to do business in US. They keep on giving me the run around and lie straight out about the order already have been shipped. I still don't have the item. Will never order from them again.

I placed an order for four items using a discount code. eBags delayed delivery on one of the items and then sent notice that it was out of stock. They then removed the item and the discount code and tried to charge full price. When I requested a similar replacement item (by a different manufacturer) as a substitute all emails went unanswered. Customer service is non-existent if you run into problems. As soon as they got payment, they completely ignored customer emails. Surprised and frustrated, I am completely turned off by how they handled (or rather didn't handle) things. I've ordered plenty of items over the net but this has got to be one of my worst customer service experiences. They didn't even try. It seems once they get your dollar today they don't care how much future potential dollars a new customer could mean for them in the future not to mention word of mouth to friends and family. My impression is that they think they are so big they don't care about individual orders. eBags will make the customer go through the process of disputing the charges through the credit card company rather than help you out.

Good Price, Terrible Execution

I ordered a bag over a week ago and no tracking information is available, yet the bag is supposed to be delivered today. I sent an email to customer service and they responded stating that the order will take one day to process in their warehouse. Well, it has been 6 days, and still no processing. I called today to see what was going on as I should be receiving the package today. They told me they had to pass this on to another department and that department would follow up with me in two days. So they are basically not even going to follow back up with me until two days after the bag is supposed to be delivered to me. The price was good, but I would definitely go somewhere else in the future. I still haven’t received what I purchased so does the good price really matter?

Worst experience ever

I was not informed by their customer service for an item ordered which became out of stock after my order was placed. I was told only when I called them after the estimated delivery date lapsed and no response received on my previous email inquiring about my order status. The problem is till pending even though it has been two weeks and several emails sent and phone calls made. According to their email, they are committed to provide an answer within 24 hours, but they never did.

Finally, an email came on 17 July saying that they can ship that item to me but another email came on 19 July from another customer service specialist confirming the order is canceled. Later, another email came on 20 July saying that my order is too late to be canceled but I can return it within 30 days with refund excluding shipping charges. I don't want to go through the "return" routine since no goods received nor shipping information given. Still waiting for their response. No problem solved. Truly the worst customer service I have encountered so far for my online shopping experience.

On 8/16/04 I received a confirmation of my order, and they indicated they would email me when the item was shipped. No email, but the website indicates the estimated arrival date is 8/23/04. I sent two emails to them asking the status of the order and received the canned response indicating I would get a response within 24 hours. No responses. Then I called customer service and they were going to check on it and get back to me. That was about a week ago and still no word on my order.

I will not be doing business with this company in the future. Not only are they not able to fill their orders in a timely manner, but their Customer Service demeanor is less than professional.
