Apollo GeForce FX5200 128MB AGP
Pros: MCE compatibility, half height, fanless, price
Cons: Not a high performance gamers card. Full review Hello This review is for the Apollo GeForce FX5200 128MB AGP. I recently bought this card because it is on the Windows Media Center Edition list of supported hardware (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/partners/dfw/partnerlisting.mspx) My MCE machine is a Shuttle XPC with AGP slot. Originally I tried running MCE on a video card not supported but it frequently locked up and so I coughed up $37 for this Apollo card. This card works perfectly for me under MCE. I selected this card because it is fanless to minimize noise. Also it was one of the least expensive cards supported by MCE. I also like this card because it is half height. The Shuttle small form factor computer has space for a full size card and my previous card was full height but the half height card is much easier to cram in. This card also has analog VGA and s-video connectors though I have only used the DVI output. |
