I love this printer
Pros: Dependable, affordable, compact
Cons: Extra spots of toner sometimes appear on the paper when printing on vellum Full review I've had this printer for about 3 years, and I haven't had a single problem with it. I bought it because I had an old HP LaserJet that was about 8-9 years old and finally had to be retired. I use this at home, but I do a fair amount of printing with it - probably an average of 40-50 pages a week, and sometimes 100 pages a week. I've had to replace the toner cartridge twice in 3 yrs, it is a bit expensive - about $80. But consider that you'd have to change an inkjet cartridge every few months if you printed as much as I do and in the long run that would be more expensive. We do have a color inkjet as well, that we use for printing pictures, etc., but this is cheaper to use for everyday printing if you don't need color. It's also much quicker than most inkjets. The manual feed is very easy to use, and it prints well on any material that I've tried, including copy paper, recycled paper, heavy cardstock (110#), transparencies, labels, etc. The one material I have had a little trouble with is vellum (thin translucent paper used in scrapbooking/cardmaking). Sometimes the toner leaves an extra spot or two on the vellum. This printer is very dependable, it hardly ever misfeeds, and if it does, it's easy to clear. If I needed another laser printer, I would buy this again without hesitation and probably wouldn't even bother looking at anything else out there. |
