The HP LaserJet 1020 is a fantastic personal laser printer that’s great for just about any household.

You may wonder why someone like me who doesn’t print a whole lot would get a laser printer. The reason is simple: it saves money, it saves time and the results are fantastic! I used to have an inkjet printer that did an okay job. Sure, it could print color which was nice to have the few times a year I wanted to print a picture or something of the sort and sure, I could buy replacement inks online pretty cheap, but the reality is that it was costing me money and time.

Now that I have the LaserJet 1020, I don’t have to worry about ink cartridges at all – in fact, I’m still using the original Toner cartridge that came with the printer! Output is fast, dry (something you can’t say with an inkjet printer) and of the highest quality.

When I purchased it about 4 months ago, there weren’t Visa drivers available so even though I had it connected to a PC on my network that was running Windows XP, I couldn’t print from my Vista laptop to that printer (got a Spooler error). I actually had to copy the file to the XP machine, Remote Desktop into that machine and print it from there (a big hassle). HP has since released an updated driver and everything works perfectly.

Other than not being able to print color (which can be done by a sub-$50 inkjet printer for that occasional need), this LaserJet is suitable for all needs, even the occasional printer.
