Motorola H700 a good pairing to BlackBerry Curve.
Pros: Very small and lightweight.
Comfortable.
Easy to turn on, just open the boom.
Cons: Car charger wasn't included. Full review For a while, I'd been using a Plantronics Voyager 510 bluetooth headset. It was an arround the ear headset that was a fairly good performer but the comfort for my ear wasn't top notch. Unfortunately I'd broken the volume control on that headset after the warranty had expired and needed to find a new headset. Rather than just purchasing another Voyager 510, I wanted to check what the newer generation of headsets had to offer in terms of comfort, easy of use and overall sound quality. The local T-mobile store was very helpful in that the sales rep was willing to open each product and allow me to review their operation, features and comfort. With that, I'd selected the Motorola H700 bluetooth headset. I liked it's size (very small when folded up) and comfort. In addition, while using it in a variety of conditions, I find the sound quality an improvement over the previous Plantronics headset. No small accomplishment due to the Voyager 510 being the prior generation king. Features: * RapidConnect design uses a microphone that flips open to power on the headset. * Motorola's 5th generation. * 30% smaller than its predecessor. * Excellent audio quality with noise reduction and echo cancellation technology. * Ergonomically designed ear hook can be worn on either ear. * Three button controls, Call, volume up and volume down. * Multi-color light provides headset status and can be turned off upon preference. The light changes to different colors to let you know when the headset is in use, pairing mode, during charging and when the battery is low. * Bluetooth Class 2 for wireless connection of to 10 meters(30 feet). * Bluetooth 1.2- or 1.1 compatible. The headset is also available in up to six different colors. Results: The headset has been working great! The pairing with my BlackBerry Curve (8300) has been working extremely well. It was very easy to perform. When you use the headset for the first time, flip open the microphone after the fist 2 hour charge, it automatically goes into Pairing mode and the light is purple around the call button. Simply start the pairing feature on the phone and enter in the 0000 security code. If your headset wasn't paired, you can reenter the pairing mode by closing the mic and then pressing the Call button for more than five seconds while flipping open the microphone again. Easy to see as the purple light will come on. With the BlackBerry, it'll switch between headset and the phones speaker/microphone whenever I flip the headsets microphone closed. On the previous Plantronics, I had to turn the bluetooth function on the phone off in order to switch back and forth. With the Motorola/BlackBerry combination, the pairing is reestablished very quickly when I flip out the Microphone on the H700 again. Nice! With just a quick tap on the call button, the voice dial feature is activated on my phone and I can either speak a contacts name or number. The clarity works great in my car with both the windows up or down. The Plantronics was prone to problems when the windows were down due to too much wind noise, frequently it was easier to initiate a call with the keypad. With the Motorola this has not been a problem at all, works very well. The volume seems to also be able to be adjusted much lowder than I'd been able to achieve with the Plantronics, so I can hear more clearly even in noisy environments (such as a server room full of cooling fans, etc). Comfort is great! There is nothing that actually is inserted into the ear itself, it just rests over the ear with the loop. With the light weight it's easy to forget it's even there. Summary: For features, comfort and performance, I strongly recommend this headset along with the BlackBerry Curve (8300) phone. Excellent performance. Bluetooth disclaimer: It has been shown that bluetooth pairing of headsets can vary considerably from one phone model to another. I don't know why the market hasn't become more consistant with the open protocol, but your milage can very depending on the Phone and headset combination. When using the H700 with a different make of phone, I'd recommend trying it out before purchase if possible. |
