Great Headset, Slightly large, but very useful

Pros: Very easy to use, light, small, easy to answer calls
Cons: Bad voice dialing, weird charger, bad battery life.

The bottom line: This is a great product, but the battery life isn't sufficient. The product is very easy to use. I would recommend this for anybody who wants talk while driving.

Although I try best to not use my cell phone in the car, it sometimes is hard to avoid when the call is important. Most people may know that it is very hard to steer with one hand, try to keep the phone up to your ear and shift at the same time. It almost always falls off your shoulder and hangs up. Also, it is becoming illegal is most cities. Right now, in my city, it is still legal to use a cell phone, but they anticipate changing that very soon and this is for good reason.

I purchased this headset used for $20 and it works great. It has a very sleek design and is easy to use. One thing that I like is that it is very easy to turn off; all you have to do is close the boom (the microphone). I have seen some (and used) Bluetooth headsets where it wasn’t apparent about how to turn it off, so if you wanted to use your cell phone normally, you had to turn Bluetooth off on your phone instead of just the headset. On this one, if you decide that you need to use the phone without the headset, all you have to do is take it off your ear and close it. Even during a call, it automatically switches back to your phone and the call is uninterrupted.

One thing that I have noticed though, is the battery life. I really don’t use it more than a few times a week (or less), but I find that I need to charge it fairly often, more so than I would have expected, and I do not want to purchase an expensive car charger for it, so I end up having to charge in my house, which I sometimes leave it there, so that is a downside. Now, as Motorola is the manufacture of the product, you would expect that it should work with the RAZR charger, but this is wrong (although newer models do in fact do this), the charger is a proprietary charger from Motorola that I have not found another electronic device that uses it. But that is okay.

With the Motorola HS850, it is very easy to answer a call. I just keep the phone in my pocket and the Bluetooth headset in a cup holder next to my seat and when I feel the phone vibrate, I just put it on, and touch the answer button on the headset, it’s as easy as that. The headset has two convenient volume buttons on the side that you can change the headset volume instantly. The headset is very light, and you can almost not tell that it is on your head. Another thing that I have noticed about it that is very nice is how easy it goes on. I have no trouble putting it on with one hand; you really don’t have to think about it when you put it on.

Now, one thing I have noticed with this product, is that it doesn’t work well with voice dialing. The voice dialing on my phone is incredible, it picks it up every time when using just the phone, but when I use my Bluetooth headset, it makes quite a few mistakes when trying to call, so this isn’t the best product for voice dialing.

Despite the bad voice-dialing, it has great sound quality, and it is very easy to use.

In conclusion to my review, I would like to say that this is a great product, although I don’t think the battery life is as sufficient as I thought it would have been and the product is very easy to use. I would highly recommend this for anybody who wants to answer calls whilst driving.
