Useful Peer to Peer network expansion
Pros: Cheap method for having a drive available to all machines regardless of which are on.
Cons: Better setup software needed for many domestic users. Full review The unit was easy to install but it isn't until you own one that you realise that you can't just plug a USB drive into your network and then expect it to work somewhere else - this unit formats the drive in a particular way so you do need to dedicate a drive for the purpose. BUT you can plug in a flash drive or key and so long as you have the mapping utility installed this works well enough. Initially I couldn't see my new drive on my network - I then discovered that my network being mshome needed, at least on one machine and only to change things in the gadget, to be changed to workgroup. This should be an option during the installation process and not for later on. |
