Pros: Fast, accurate scans. Good value, if the price is right.
Cons: Won't scan larger documents accurately because of plastic case.
The Bottom Line: If you are scanning snapshots or regular-sized documents, the 5800 is great. If you are scanning larger items, the 5800 is flawed.

Pros: Speed is good, install is easy, quiet
Cons: Very poor scan quality, crappy software, poor color reproductions
The Bottom Line: There is no redeeming features of this scanner. Even though it cost me $2, I feel guilty about the waste of natural resources. At least I recycled the box.

Pros: sorry, can't find any
Cons: bad drivers, software, etc.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this scanner unless they get better drivers for it. It only gave me trouble, and constantly locked up my computer on a Win98 platform.

Pros: When it worked it worked well for simple scanning
Cons: Broke after 3 months and Visioneer has been completely unhelpful in solving problem
The Bottom Line: The widespread phantom lock problem and Visioneer's handling of it render the scanner worthless.

Pros: Inexpensive (i.e., cheap!)
Cons: Poor build quality, ugly, flimsy attached USB cable, Intermittent failures, poor software
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this scanner at any price, unless you like junk around the house. Pay a little more for a good brand, like HP.
