Pros Easy to overclock, runs cool, doesn't use much energy.
Cons May require a large hsf replacement, as the stock HSF is not very good.
Recommended it? Yes

This is the processor I am using day in and day out and it is by far the best piece of hardware I have ever owned. Not only does it work perfectly and stay cool, it over-clocks like no tomorrow.

I have my little E8400 running at 4.0Ghz on air-cooling which was a lot easier to set-up than I... Read full review »

Pros Best value 4.0Ghz Dual Core 6MB L2 Cache processor available today.
Cons $165 less for me to spend on pizza.
Recommended it? Yes

Having built many PCs back to the days of paying $1,000 for a processor that ran at 100hz, recalling the progressions over almost 30 years has brought me to the point where justifying the purchase of another CPU has become nearly impossible due to the almost instantaneous launch and multi-task... 555 Black Edition, did someone say value?

byboogacow Jun 3, 2010
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros HUGE bang for the buck. Not too hot for a CPU, and overclocks very high.
Cons 25% chance of a working quad. Two of three got me three cores though.
Recommended it? Yes

Hi Folks, I am a man of many pursuits, and one of them happens to be building and tuning custom PC's. I'm one of those fools who drops whole paychecks into the latest components and won't hesitate to rebuild his whole system from the ground up only for purposes of adding a fan or new processor... A CPU for Windows 7

bybvckvs May 24, 2010
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros An ideal processor for a home upgrade to Windows 7.
Cons Is apparently not 100% compatible with Intel processors.
Recommended it? Yes

I'm not a big fan of tweaking up my hardware just for entertainment, but still I found myself needing a new CPU to go with my new motherboard as part of my pending upgrade to Windows 7.  (As it turns out, the only hardware that I can still use is the PC's case.)

Why THIS Processor?
