byGr8ful Apr 8, 2004

Pros Fast frame rate. 128MB DDR. Compares well with NVIDIA 5900FX.
Cons Somewhat expensive but you get what you pay for.
Recommended it? Yes

"Hooray! It's here!" Finally after 10 days and $204.79, my new Radeon 9800 Pro 128 video card finally arrived. Now all I had to do was install it and explain to my wife why this card was worth two hundred bucks. The first part was easier than the second since my wife knows little to nothing about... It's Getting Hot In Here: Upgrades, PCIx, and Shifting Video Cards

byzero_ May 15, 2004
24 Helpfuls 25 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Fast, fast, fast, and with the latest price drop, cheap!
Cons Power hungry - Requires a good motherboard and power supply.
Recommended it? Yes

Cripes, this review got old. PCI-E is here and going strong, having turned into a better value for the money, performancewise, than AGP is anymore. Cons Expensive, but you get stellar performance; craves CPU power; no Half-Life 2 ticket
Recommended it? Yes

When I got my Dell system two years ago, my graphics card was mid grade, but it still pulled off some amazing things. But now, being two years later, my Geforce MX410 was getting a little tired. And since I want to run everything so it looks all nice and pretty, I needed an upgrade.

Great card... but...

bybrian_4985 Oct 10, 2005
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great performance for current games.
Cons Not the best value card currently. Future games will run poorly on this.
Recommended it? No

... it's starting showing its age with newer games.

Originally I bought this card for Half-Life 2 and I was definitely satisfied with the performance. I have a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz with 1.5 GB of DDR400 memory and I was basically able to play Half-Life 2 smoothly (~60 frames per second) with... Read full review »
