The Q6600 is a good introductory quad core processor for the Socket 775.

Pros Quad cores, 8Mb total L2 on-chip cache
Cons 65nm always produces more heat than a 45nm quad core

Pros Can hit 3.5 GHz rock solid stable (YMMV), low FSB and high multiplier (easier OC)
Cons Bad heatsink mount design, high temperatures (even at stock settings)
